A price index, not a review site.
Most VPS comparison pages are ranked by who pays the most. This one is ranked by arithmetic, and the arithmetic is published so you can check it.
What this is
A filterable index of virtual private server plans, normalised so they can actually be compared. Providers describe their plans in mutually incompatible ways — one quotes annual, one quotes with a promotional first term, one counts a burstable core as a vCPU. The engine converts everything to a monthly USD figure and derives cost per gigabyte of RAM and cost per vCPU from it.
Default sort is cost per gigabyte of RAM. That is the single number that most often changes which plan a person should buy, and it is the number almost nobody displays.
How a row gets here
- Sourced
- Prices and specs are read off the provider's own public order page. If a provider will not publish pricing, it cannot be compared and is not listed.
- Normalised
- Converted to monthly USD at the rate noted in the dataset. Where a price is promotional or first-term only, the renewal figure is what gets ranked.
- Dated
- Every plan carries the date it was last checked. A stale row is a bug, and the date is there so you can see how stale it is.
- Flagged
- Where a price could be sourced but the specs could not be confirmed, the row is marked unverified and excluded from spec-dependent filters rather than guessed at.
The whole dataset ships as a single file at /assets/data.js. If you disagree with a ranking, you can read exactly what
produced it.
What is deliberately not here
- Star ratings. A single score collapses trade-offs that matter differently to different workloads. The filters do that work instead.
- Invented benchmarks. Nothing here claims a measurement that was not taken.
- Testimonials. There are none, so none are shown.
- Paid placement in the grid. The sort is computed. A provider cannot buy its way up it.
Money, plainly
Some outbound links are affiliate links, which means a provider may pay a commission if you sign up after clicking through. That is how the running costs are covered.
The relationship is worth stating precisely: affiliate status is not an input to the ranking function. Several providers that rank well — Hetzner among them — run no affiliate programme at all and will never pay a cent. They still rank where the arithmetic puts them. If that ever stops being true, the site is worthless and there is no point running it.
The conflict of interest
Disclosure: the operator of this site also runs MDEHost, a VPS host in Medellín, Colombia. MDEHost appears in this index. It is labelled as operator-owned wherever it appears, it is subject to the same sourcing rules as every other listing, and it does not receive placement it did not earn from the same arithmetic. You should still weigh its listing knowing who wrote the software.
Who runs it
Built and maintained by a small independent operator under Scout Theory LLC. There is no editorial team, no sponsored content desk, and no press embargo list — which is also why corrections come straight to a person and get applied the same day.
